Why does the Assessors Office inspect properties?

The Department of Revenue requires the Assessors office to maintain a datatbase, update properties on building permit issued, record sales or change of ownership and perform cyclical inspections. The Department of Revenue requires cyclical inspections on every property once every 10 years.

Reasons for inspections include:

    • Building Permits
    • Cyclical Inspections
    • Abatement Inspections
    • Sales Inspections
    • Personal Property Inspections
If a property owner has a concern about their property record card or an error in the sketch, they should contact the Assessor’s office to schedule an appointment to review your property. This is the best way to ensure accuracy of your property valuation. If you have any questions or concerns about the inspection program, please call the Assessor’s office at (978) 448-1127.
