Please come HONOR and REMEMBER our town’s heroes

Flag Placement

Saturday, May 20, 2023 starting at 1:00 PM

American Legion Post #55, 75 Hollis Street, Groton, MA 01450

Families are invited to meet at the American Legion to help place flags at the gravesites of our town’s veterans.

Flags will be provided.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Parade

Monday, May 29, 2023 starting at 9:00 AM

American Legion Post #55, 75 Hollis Street, Groton, MA 01450

The annual Memorial Day Parade will step off at 9:00 AM from the American Legion with a wreath laying at the Old Burying Ground.

The parade will then proceed down School Street, turn left onto Main Street, with a wreath laying at Charles Gordon Square, turn left onto Hollis Street and continue on Hollis Street to Veteran’s Common for remarks by state representatives.

From there, the parade will proceed to Groton Cemetery for a Remembrance Ceremony.

Spectators are invited and encouraged to fall in behind the parade to march along to the Cemetery.

Remembrance Ceremony

Groton Cemetary, 242 Hollis Street, Groton, MA 01450

This year’s ceremony, organized by the American Legion, will include a wreath laying, special remarks, and musical accompaniment.

It will commence as soon as all parade participants have arrived at Groton Cemetery.
