Please help insure public safety by registering your dogs
that are over 6 months of age.
- In order to license your dog(s), we will need:
1. If not on file with the Town Clerk, a valid rabies certificate and certificate of
spaying or neutering, if appropriate.
2. A fee of $15 per dog if your dog has not been spayed or neutered.
3. A fee of $10 per dog for a spayed or neutered dog.
4. Your dog’s information (see page 2) - You can register your dog in one of three ways:
1. Mail: Send this form, along with a self-addressed stamped envelope with
two stamps and fee payable to the Town of Groton
2. In Person: Stop by the Town Clerk’s office during regular business hours.
Your dog tag will be issued while you wait.
3. Online: Follow the instructions below.
As a reminder, all dogs must be registered by March 1st, according to Chapter 128 of the Code of the Town of Groton. Dogs registered after that date will be assessed a late fee of $10. After June 1st, the late fee will be $15, in addition to the registration fee. Persons aged 70 years or over are exempt from the registration fee only. All other fees (such as a late fee) shall apply. If your dog has been classified as a “dangerous dog”, please contact the Town Clerk.
ONLINE DOG REGISTRATION
The online payment system can be accessed on the Town’s website at. On the main Home page click on, “Pay Online” scroll down
to “Town Clerk Documents”.
You will be asked for information about you and your dog, and then you will be sent to a secure payment processing site where you will enter your bank information (credit cards are an additional fee). Following the successful transaction, the Town Clerk will mail you the dog license and tag. In order to use the online option, your dog’s rabies information, recorded with the Town Clerk, must be current. If not, please email or fax (978-448-1115) a copy of the vaccination record.
